PALO ALTO, Calif. — Boardwalktech, Inc., a leader in Enterprise 2.0 technology has released its Enterprise Report Manager (ERM) for Salesforce.com’s (NYSE:CRM) AppExchange. ERM is part of the Boardwalk Collaboration Platform (BCP) family of products which intelligently connects the desktop to the enterprise utilizing a patented, collaborative spreadsheet-driven database technology. With ERM, Salesforce.com customers are now able to see and track changes to their Salesforce reports directly from within Microsoft (NASDAQ:MSFT) Excel® on the desktop.
Salesforce provides powerful reporting capabilities for data in all of its applications. When users want to print a report, Salesforce uses Excel for printing. Like other applications which push data to Excel, there’s no way to understand what’s changed. ERM’s persistent data environment means all changes are versioned at the cell-level, so users can see a complete history of all changes for a cell, row, or even recreate a report as of any time. ERM users can also merge other report data, such as actuals and inventory from systems like Oracle (NASDAQ:ORCL) and SAP (NYSE:SAP), in the same Excel ERM report and that data is versioned, too.
“Until now, Salesforce users have created multiple versions of Excel-based reports to see how data has changed,” states Andrew Duncan, CEO of Boardwalktech. “With ERM, users can now see how report and other transactional data have changed over any time period with the click of a mouse.”
“All relational database applications lack the ability to maintain a persistent, two-way connection from the object-storage data environment to the row-column environment of the ubiquitous spreadsheet,” adds Joe Cardenas, former CIO of Salesforce.com and an advisor to Boardwalktech. “BCP and ERM finally give companies the ability to intelligently connect all the work that’s done on the desktop to the rest of the enterprise.”
