Following the success of their online food ordering system, wagamama customers can now place take-out orders from wherever they happen to be on most mobile devices, with GPS technology being used to pinpoint their nearest wagamama restaurant
wagamama announced it has released a mobile optimized version of its web ordering system to work on all smartphones including iPhones, Android devices and Blackberry devices. Web and mobile experts Adactus Ltd built the mobile extensions required on top of wagamama’s scaleable MICROS myCentral eCommerce framework which is a next generation eCommerce platform for the hospitality and food service sector that links to the POS system in each restaurant offering customers a means of placing orders online for collection at their nearest wagamama restaurant.
At the heart of the wagamama solution is an easy to use ordering web site in the unique style of wagamama’s branding. Customers can order take-out from the full menu, and regular customers can take advantage of ‘quick ordering’ by number from the menu. Check out is a quick and painless process with payment being taken by credit card with a pre-arranged pickup time from the restaurant.
wagamama were able to benefit from Adactus’ proven platform to build an online ordering system in a very short space of time. With expertise in connecting to retail POS systems, and previous eCommerce experience in the restaurant sector, Adactus delivered a robust and scaleable solution to wagamama’s exacting brand guidelines.
wagamama has also introduced a fully-fledged iPhone app using the custom interfaces created by adactus. There are now 71 restaurants online, with three distinct ordering methods; web, mobile and mobile apps including iPhone.
Commenting on the release of the mobile optimized solution, wagamama IT Manager, Richard Tallboy, said “With the rapid increase in people accessing the internet through smartphone devices, it was vital that we were able to support the majority of phones that could access our website ordering system. Adactus were able to make the necessary coding changes to our eCommerce system which has created a mobile site that looks and acts like a dedicated mobile application”.
Adactus Managing Director Chris Hall said “We are delighted to help wagamama extend their reach to a growing user base now choosing to purchase their food over a mobile device rather than the traditional PC”.
