Can LinkedIn Increase Your Sales?
April 24, 2008 by Jimson Lee · 6 Comments
With all the talk about Facebook these days, LinkedIn is the forgotten business tool. Among others in the business related categories are Spoke and Plaxo.
It’s not really a social bookmark, but rather an online social networking hub, as well as a job posting site competing for recruiter dollars from Craigslist, HotJobs and Monster.
One of the newer features is asking your LinkedIn network specific industry questions and possibly get intelligent answers or feedback. It is a great way to show off your knowledge, just like the old days of forums and newsgroups where recruiters targeted experienced knowledge workers.
So, are you wondering if social media networking sites like LinkedIn are worth your time & effort?
With this report, you’ll discover how others leverage this unique tool to connect, create opportunities and more.
There is no sign up or email opt-in required; you can go to the www.sellingtobigcompanies.com website, or just click or right click and save as and download your free report in PDF.
On the flip side of the equation, Salesteamtools.com wrote a rebuttal on the above PDF called 3 Reasons LinkedIn Won’t Help You Sell.
These two articles provides good arguments on both sides. It really depends on your niche or business, and of course, how big your list of contacts are.

Jimson, I think you got it right when you say that it really depends on the business you’re in. The power of LinkedIn is that it can be different things to different people and for that reason alone, it’s worth a closer look to see how it can benefit you.
Good post – thanks for the link.
You don’t have to spend recruiter dollars to get your jobs on LinkedIn. You can post them for free via Smuz.com
@Jan – I think it also depends on your demographics as well.
Regarding job postings, I spent 4 years in Silicon Valley and the BEST place to find work was Craigslist.
