1984 Apple Macintosh SuperBowl Commercial

This Sunday is the SuperBowl.

25 years ago, Apple introduced the Macintosh. They broadcasted this 60 second commercial during the third quarter of Super Bowl XVIII, and was the only commercial shown by Apple.

This year, a 30-second commercial during the game will cost an estimated $3 million or $100,000 a second! Would Apple pay $6 million dollars for this commercial today?

A lot has changed for Apple over the past 25 years.

At the time, the norm was a CRT screen (green or amber) of 80 characters by 24 lines. The Macintosh had a graphic display where every pixel was programmable by software. Their LaserWriter was even more impressive.
